MISS RANCHO BERNARDO SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
CONTESTANT REQUIREMENTS - 2019

Personal:

  1. Must be a US citizen
  2. Must be 14-21 years of age
    1. Teen – Typically at least 14 years of age by January 1, 2019 of the pageant year and not yet 17 years of age by the date of the pageant in 2019.
    2. Miss – Typically 17 years of age by the pageant date in 2019 and not yet 22 years of age by January 1, 2019
  3. Must live in zip codes 92127 / 92128  OR attend a School in zip codes 92127 / 92128
  4. Must be enrolled in local continuing education (prerequisite to claim scholarship award money, or full time high school for teen contestants)
  5. Must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
  6. Good Moral character: Single, never been married, no children, no convictions/crimes, never appeared and/or posted nude pictures
  7. Attend mandatory orientation on Saturday March 16, 2019, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, Rancho Bernardo. If under 18, must bring parent to orientation to sign documents.  (see/call Director if a conflict)

Documents:

  1. Must provide Birth Certificate (evidence of US citizenship)
  2. Must provide a copy of their California Driver’s License/CA ID (local address establishes residence in required zip code of RB)
    1. Teens w/out a California Driver’s License to provide report card with address
  3. Must provide a copy of their most recent report card or  transcript (evidence of required GPA)
  4. Essay 300 – 500 words, Topic: Why they are interested in becoming Miss RB/Miss RB Teen

Competition:

  1. Personal Interview (With Judges panel, 35 points)
  2. Impromptu question (On stage in front of audience, 10 points)
  3. Poise and Personality (Judged at all times, 25 points)
  4. Business and evening/cocktail attire (10 points each, 20 points total)
  5. Speech  - timed, in front of contestants and judges (10 points)
Highest GPA (Highest GPA Award, not a part of competition points)

Total available points = 100. In the event of a tie score, the highest score for the Personal Interview will break the tie.  If this does not break the tie, then the highest score for Poise and Personality will be used to break the tie.

Contestant Fee:

A non-refundable $95 check, payable to Miss RB Scholarship Pageant turned in by March 16, 2019.

Pageant date is Sunday April 7, 2019- an all day event 
(Contestants arrive at 9:30 a.m., Coronation Program begins at 4:00 p.m.)

CONTESTANT BIOGRAPHY

A personal biography is required for all contestant.

Biography is due March 16,2019/Orientation (at the Rancho Bernardo Inn from 2:00-4:00 pm)
Please email to Mrs. Ross @ missrbprogram@gmail.com when it is complete, or bring your essay on a media drive and a hard copy to the Orientation

Biography Hints:

  • Type neatly - your judges will be reading this!
  • Be thorough with information.
  • Try not to abbreviate.
  • When answering questions think about your life.  Information about you should be specific enough to separate you from other contestants.  Be proud of what makes you different.
  • For the person you most admire select someone other than a parent.
  • Keep a copy of your biography to study for your interview!
  • Use your biography form for others to “question” you in practice.
  • Be consistent on all forms.
  • Honesty is extremely important!  Don’t include any information that isn’t really you.  Anything on your bio is fair game to be questioned by the judges.  If you say you can speak Spanish be prepared for a judge to test you if they are fluent!
  • If you have questions or you need help ask the director now.

ESSAY

Essay 300 – 500 words,
Topic: Why they are interested in becoming Miss RB/Miss RB Teen
Essay is due March 16,2019/Orientation (at the Rancho Bernardo Inn from 2:00-4:00 pm)

Essay Hints:

  • Type neatly - your judges will be reading this!
  • Your essay needs to be written by you and be an honest reflection of why you are interested in becoming Miss RB or Miss RB Teen.
  • The essay needs to be 300-500 words in length and should be sent with your biography to Mrs. Ross @ missrbprogram@gmail.com.
  • The essay, although not being judged as a part of scores determining the title holders for 2019, will be sent to judges with your biography and picture.
  • Be prepared to answer questions related to why you are interested in becoming Miss RB or Miss RB teen.  (Your answers should be consistent with your essay).
  • Make sure that you prepare your essay in a neat and organized fashion and insure that it is free of typos and grammatical errors.
